Hi guys. for the last few weeks i have been published an hazard regarding the OEM Dunlop D610 tires on all possible forum. my tire as long as the tiers of 6-7 friends of mine got the same problem ( please find photo attached) the tires got cracked on the inner surface giving the tube a direct cut!!! this happened while riding on road and off road. We must admit that air pressure was always as it should at all the times this dangerous affect happened!!! We brought all tires to a tire specialist who examine them all, his professional opinion was that the cause is a manufacturing failure.
We contacted our local Honda dealer. They contacted the local Dunlop dealer - the last was trying to roll the blame on us the customers saying that we ALL rode our motorcycles using low Air pressure...That's of Corse NOT TRUE!!!
? A complained was sent to The local DMV office , and to Sumitomo rubber corporation- tiers manufacturer for Dunlop.
? We strongly suggest all CRF1000L owners to avoid riding this D610 tires !!!.
? I will try to keep you inform of any farther development.
For the time being following the above our local Honda dealer Is replacing the tiers on his expense.

Has anyone other than this particular group of friends had the same problem with their tyres?

I looked at a set coming off a 3000 mile bike last week and they were fine, no cracks. The bike was just getting Karoo 3s fitted.

I'm not doubting that this happened but could it be limited to a particular batch rather than all of these tyres?

i really don't know.
i know of the same issue from an AT owner in Kongo Africa.
if it heppened to anybody else, this is a great platform to share!!!
i belive it heppend to others but thay just coulden't know that this is so coman thing.
for us here 7-6 tiers with exactly the same defect it is more then a Coincidence.
And most important , if this phenomenon does occur for any of you..you will report that to Honda's dealer in your area

I recently got a slow rear puncture and there was no external cause evident after a minute examination of the tyre. I used some tube specific tyre sealant and it worked. I will now change these tyres as their performance is poor anyway but I will be looking closely at the internal carcase when I do.

Still very few people claiming to have this fault . Considering 7-8 people in a small group had this issue, one would expect a lot of people to be posting on here or the Facebook group, having the same issue.
Lots don't like the tyre's performance, especially in the wet,, some are not happy with tubes, but that's about it so far.
Hopefully if there is a real problem, people who experience it, or notice an issue when changing tyres will post on here, and the Facebook page, to highlight the problem.
Jay, what was Honda's official response when made aware that the same thing had happened to several tyres in your group? As the dealer paid for new tyres, they must have contacted Honda direct.
What was the response from Summitomo rubber, if you've had one yet?

Well ! I've just changed mine over to Conti Trail Attack 2s, Not because they were damaged in any way, They've lasted just over 6,000 miles, and I was very pleased with them,

Just thought I would try a more road biased tyre, and so far 480 miles, and I'm more than happy, should be really because the Dunlops were shot,

Hi Jay,

Can you please confirm out of interest is it the front tyre, back tyre or both that you have had punctured ?

I've used mine for 2500, took them off, put on Karoo 3s for a 1000 mile trip that included off road, then put the original tyres back on and have just done another 1000 miles on them two up. I've got a set of Trail Attack 2 's to put on but the Dunlops look like they've got another 1-2 thousand miles in them !
