Went to dealers today got a rough quote for my fully loaded GS800 panniers topbox bash plate spot lights ABS heated grips 20000 miles 58 plate etc and he came back with £3500 but he would go up to £4050 to get me on a AT how much more I would get private not sure £500 extra its tempting to get the AT

I looked at a GS 800 when I was evaluating bikes to buy - and a 1200. In my humble opinion the AT is a lot nicer than the GS 800 but marginally less fulfilling than a GS1200 for what I personally want a bike to do. Taking price into account the AT is the clear winner - for me.

So from your perspective I personally think the AT is an upgrade but whether it is worth £6k is up to you!

Your bike has kept its value quite well I reckon.

If you found the right buyer, it looks like you'd be able to get £5k easily but it's a case of finding that buyer. Part exchange is always going to be lower than private sale, you're 'paying' for the convenience of having a guaranteed sale with no issues and inconvenience suffered by the dealer potentially struggling to sell the bike.
