After fighting with and cursing the ETC tray when removing and reinstalling the fuel tank, I looked at the tray. The front lip may keep safe any loose items inside the storage space under the seat but, it seriously interferes with the tail of the gas tank when removing/installing it and the tray must be freed to allow movement. Non-trivial!

Since I have installed many extras under the seat (PC8 power block, Skeene smart aux light dipper, Scottoiler vacuum pipe, McCruise control block etc) the extra cables and pipes fill in the space just behind the tank. So, the front lip is unnecessary and can be modified for easier tank removal.

A Dremel tool with cutting disc makes short work on the black plastic.

Now the tail of the tank lifts vertically without hitting the ETC tray and I added a little lightness.
