Sharp intake of breath - the accessories ain't cheap!

Got the attached handouts at the Motorcycle Live VIP event at the NEC on Saturday - stunned by costs ( for example, £340 for heated grips - having a laugh!!)

This was after finding out that the bike was more expensive than I had expected/hoped (£10,499 for Manual with ABS and £11,299 for the DCT version).

Not standard in UK. Don't know about Canada or elsewhere.

I think Honda are missing a trick as the pedal shifter would likely lead to greater DCT sales for those who are swithering between manual and DCT.
Even though they said it would be standard, the foot pedal shifter is an optional accessory in the U.S. too. My guess as to why:

Honda only offers the foot shift lever as an optional kit for DCT equipped motorcycles, so naturally, including it as standard equipment on the CFR1000L wasn't in the original plan. Once they realized it could help off-road performance (and sales), it was probably too late to adjust manufacturing and production procedure to allow it.

The most obvious problem is the foot shift lever requires a 25 mm hole in the side cover through which the shaft for the lever protrudes. The installer has to drill the hole since the cover isn't made with it. Of course, drilling a hole isn't practical to do on a production line and the cost of changing the cover and assembly procedures late in the game would be prohibitive. Therefore, they will leave it as an option. If there are enough takers for the shift lever kit, perhaps they will include it in future.

That drilling hole-thing doesn't make any sense! I think it's just a sturdy Bolt-On electronic switch.

My bad. Based my explanation on the procedure I followed installing a foot shift lever kit on my NC700XD and assumed the AT would be basically the same. If your photo is of a AT DCT, you are right - no hole is necessary.
Yes, it is Honda promo picture from Africa Twin DCT. I cropped it and increased brightness a little bit.
I still don't believe that drilling thing, but if they did it to your bike, it's must be true! :surprise:

Here is another one.

I made a couple of videos and put them on YouTube for other NC700XD owners considering installing the foot shift lever kit. This is the actual install: https://youtu.be/gsiwLVHd3qE - best fast forward to 5:05 to watch that part of the process, otherwise be prepared to be very bored.

Thanks for the video. That explains a lot!

My guess is that it was a typographical error.
My brother and I ordered the Adventure Pack only to be told that the cost shown was an error. Dealer has quoted a straight £2000.

We are corresponding with Honda UK and the local dealer as we think there ought to be a bit of discount for buying both the Travel and the Comfort Packs.

Will let you know the outcome - hopefully this week.
