Version 1.0 bike concerns?

Are any of the early adopters worried about buying the 1st model year version of the bike? I know Honda reliability is legendary, but still, it is a brand new bike after all.

I've always been told it's best to wait a year or two after launch to buy a bike.

Not worried at all. Have a 1st year production unit of the VFR800Fi parked in the garage and after almost 18 years still ticking like a Swiss watch.
Often times the first year bike does have some bugs that have to be fixed, but that is what the recall system is for. Usually the first year bike has some features that may be blessings, that are taken away in future years (lack of oxygen sensors, less emission control devices, modifiable exhaust. There has been so much R&D on this bike I expect for the first 5 years color change and new add on aftermarket equipment will be the only difference year to year. All a part of Honda's 5 year model plan.
Good to hear. I must say, the fact that it's a Honda makes me feel happier to take the plunge on buying a brand new design bike than I would be with some other manufacturers!
The CRF1000 is the successor to the tried and tested ultra reliable XRV750 - so not exactly a version 1.0 when you think about it. Still see a lot of those XRV750's on the roads even though they stopped making them 12 years ago.

There isn't anything shared between those two bikes other than a name though is there?

Still, I'm feeling reassured I think. Ultimately, Honda is good at building reliable bikes, and as others say, any issues will be solved with a recall. I think as long as I don't take it into the Amazon or Mongolia or somewhere in the first few months of ownership I'll probably be fine! :)
First version and number 129
Yeah, I'm not jealous.... honest I'm not............ :wink2:
I bought the new VFR1200F in 2010 and have 30,000 miles on it with no problems - no recalls either as far as I know - no warranty work has been done as of yet - so not worried about my new Africa Twin being a 1.0

I have one and 70000 Km model 2012(VFR1200F)
but was the VFR in 2010 Hondas first application of a Cardan drive?
