I installed a 41 sprocket on my 1000 manual last thursday, dropping a tooth and gearing up a tad. Slightly more relaxed at 110-120 kph.
I know the engine is infinitely flexible but it sorta suits the 60 & 80 kph zones better. (4th & 5th) Without changing up and lugging.
I rarely venture off road and at idle the speed diff is sweet FA.
Haven't checked with my gps but i think now the speedo reading is more accurate.

  1. What lights are they? Are they plug and play?
This are the lights I got

£26.72 49% Off | For BMW R1200GS Front fog light for Led Driving Lights for BMW R 1200 GS Adventure LC 2014 2015 2016 Motorcycle Parts

They are nearly plug and play, they come with bare ends after the waterproof plug that I bullet connected to the factory wiring then used heat shrink on. Use a paper clip on the service plug to enable the fog lights on the system so I can use the FN buttons to turn on and off as required. For around £30 in total really happy with them.

Thanks for that info

I saw someone used aftermarket ones but managed to buy the OEM style plug too so maybe could combine with these.

I want the fog lights but OEM are £400!

do the £26.72 version come with wires? There’s 4 options when I add to basket - some have wires but I think that’s a relay which I would need if I’m using the OEM plug

thanks

Hi Gazoo

it’s the cheapest option on the page (light only unless you want the grills too?) they come with short wires after waterproof plug. I ordered some hx040 fittings but they was different to what was fitted on the bike so just chopped them off. If you have the pins and rubber boots you can use the Honda blanking plugs
Took me about an hour per side taking my time

That’s great thanks for the info

yes they’re the plugs I was going to buy too - I read somewhere else they worked but no big deal

so you fed the wires/pins though and then use the blanking plug for extra protection?

cheers

These are the plugs that are fitted to the lights already. Not the honda ones.

these are meant to be the honda ones

sumitomo hx 040 series

but I found the slots was not in the correct location I might have brought the wrong ones though
Ah ok i saw your photo and assumed the plug in the picture was the Honda loom.

Ive ordered them but they were only a few quid

ill maybe try them hx040 as I’ve read elsewhere they work

thanks

No problem

Any questions drop me a message. Heads up the blue Honda cable is for the red light cable and green Honda goes to black

Install Outback engine guard.

This is the Outback engine guard that has shown the strongest level of protection in the touring events we have participated in. Unlike other products, it will not be affected by a slight impact. You can't go wrong with this one.

I prefer to keep it simple, so I only use the main frame. I also don't want to make it too heavy.

The weight is 4.8kg.

After riding with it, we found that the OUTBACK guard does a good job not only as a fall guard but also as a reinforcement member since it is rigidly fixed to the center frame of the semi-double cradle Africa Twin frame.

The fatigued frame, which has run about 100,000 km, has been refined to the extent that the suspension feels better.
It was a happy miscalculation.

I removed my Garmin Zumo 595 and will instead use a rugged phone with huge battery (Ulefone Power Armor 13 with 13,200mAh battery). This will mean that in horrible weather I could just run the phone without any charging cable plugged in and it should be able to run navigation all day without running out of battery. My Garmin was working just fine for what it does, but it can't run the app for my radar detector and doesn't offer any choices for the navigation app - so the phone wins in two ways.

Garmin sharing the windscreen brace with the RD.

Garmin is gone, mount (with wires) gone - The new phone with its very nice 6.81" screen looking good in its place. Both the phone & the RD nicely in my line of sight. Oh, look at that - it looks like I very recently hit 30,000kms on my AT.
