Spent the morning and afternoon reorganising my garage to suit the new bike, I used to have three now I am the one bike person again.

Got everything spotless and loads of room to work around the AT. Now was the good stuff, fitting my garmin satnav and battery charging lead. First problem how do you get the Seats off, presuming back then front. Turning key to release back seat, nope solid. Then I tried the front seat and off it came. Ok no big deal.
Next problem where is the bloody battery, well blow me away, what a place to put it and what a over complicated although neat solution.

I took the battery out and had a think about it but adding leads onto the battery was not going to be easy, routing and space on the terminals not easy and without stripping off a ton of bodywork I called it a day. It took me 5 mins to fit it to my old bike, this one is going to take a bit more thought. Even fitting the 12v socket still does not make it so easy with the garmin. I know about piggy backs fuses etc....

i am not a fan of breaking into looms and the sat nav connected to the battery was no big issue, I always remove it from the bike and it had an inline fuse to the battery. The battery charging lead shoukd just go to the battery but again access is awkward. so WIP at the moment. The fact that i will be changing it for the DCT in about 3 months you can see why I was looking for nothing complicated and easily reversed.

what have you chaps been doing with any electrical connections. I did find this YouTube link and possible connectors for under the rear seat socket that is for the factory alarm if it's fitted. This is also a link to the connectors. I can't remember if this was on this site or another one. Anyway thanks to whoever Sussed it out.

Guys, Jim at Eastern Beaver (Owner) has harness to plug right into factory harness to provide outlets for GPS. He has been doing this for years. He also has an AT himself. Check him out online, he is good to deal with.

Ground (i.e. negative) on Honda's bike is always the green wire.
If you used the option connector behind the dashboard you could also light up the fog lights signal in the dashboard when you switch on the lights.

Tap into the factory alarm socket and run the cable forward to the instrument cluster for your GPS. This is much easier than dismantling the front of your bike, and you have the choice of either switched or non switched power depending on which cable you connect to (take a look at Motorykers YouTube video). I chose to replace the Honda plug with a Deutsch socket and plug as they are more readily available where I live than the Honda version.
For the general access socket, for stuff like compressors etc, I fitted a Merit socket in the cavity where the seat lock lives. I only chose the merit socket as being an ex BMW owner all of my stuff particularly high amp draw like compressors have Merit connectors, but otherwise I would use marine connectors as they are as good.
My system works for me, but I am sure that others have some good stuff to share as well.
Remember to keep the rubber side down, Cheers
