"For 2018, the rear indicators now also offer an Emergency Stop Signal function. At a minimum speed of 53km/h, with either brake working if negative acceleration of a minimum of 6.0m/s2 is detected, the hazard lights flash to warn other road users a hard stop is in process. At the same speed the threshold is reduced with ABS in play – for wet conditions – to a negative acceleration of a minimum 2.5m/s2.

The indicators now also auto-cancel; rather than using a simple timer, the system compares front and rear wheel speed difference and calculates when to cancel the indication relative to the situation."

It really chaps my A** that our behind the times DOT won't allow USA spec bikes to have such innovative safety technology as this emergency stop signal function because it's against the law to have flashing brake lights! I also wonder why auto-canceling signals weren't put on the USA bikes? Did the Canadians get this Euro spec stuff?

Not that I am aware. We tend to follow the North American spec.

Well,
The Europeans apparently play by a different set of rules than we do. I don't know if them getting auto-canceling turn signals (before us) is because they are a test bed of sorts or, maybe they have stricter requirements that DEMAND that kind of stuff. Where as, maybe we're not so strict or, not sure. I've added McCruise and am thinking about the STS turn signal canceling system, both of which come on the 2020 A/T's.

Maybe it's simply that Honda needs SOMETHING to show change to a newer year model bike, although there's quite a bit changed/altered/improved on the '20 year model.

Yeah, who knows. Another example. Jeep has been putting diesels in the Wrangler over seas for years. WE just got the first diesel Wranglers a month or so ago. The infamous Smart Car was sold in Canada with diesel engines which, got somewhere near 75 mpg. We NEVER were able to get them in diesel over here. Imagine that, something that gives that much gas mileage OUTLAWED in the U.S. And the list goes on.
