Hello everyone. I have a question - despite the frost, the season is fast approaching :) and I would like to buy a second set of wheels for the CRF1100, strictly for asphalt/winkle, and I am thinking about two/three models - has anyone had experience with them and can give any opinions? They are supposed to glue dry/wet and be quiet in relation to the Karoo :).
Continental ContiTrailAttack 3 or Metzeler TOURANCE NEXT 2.
As an alternative, I am also considering Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 - I see the most opinions about them from users.
Unless you clearly have other suggestions - we are only talking about the asphalt option.

If you have the money get Michelin Anakee Adventure they have the longest life of any of the tires you would put on an ADV bike. I have used Dunlop Mission Trailmax and ridden around the USA continent, unfortunately the tread on the rear was worn out before I was even half way through the ride. I don’t think the Dunlops handle the heat very well, it was summer and I was riding though areas that would go from nearly 40C to 0C, but after Montana it was hot the whole way, 40C + through Nevada and Utah. The Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR are awesome tires they stick to the road like glue wet or dry, but they have a short life. The Michelin are so good I’m always dragging my side stand or pegs on the pavement. I will be taking these tires on a 5,000 mile plus ride this spring across the USA, so it’ll be interesting how they hold up.
 
Based on posts (across several forums), I think the roads in western U.S. tend to grind down tires faster than average. Alaska tends to be an extreme example.

Being in the east continent side, I expect to get 20000 kms on the Dunlop Trailmax Missions, perhaps more (all on-road).
 
Most tires these days are better than the rider when it comes to grip, there's some really specific personal tastes when it comes to other properties.

My experience with Michelin Road5 and Anakee Adventure is that they get really weird on the sides (other compound) in the cold, they also get really sketchy when worn near the limit. Michelins also have a rather pointy profile, making the bike tip over sensibly fast when tires are fresh.

My experience with Bridgestone is that they tend to last longer and are more consistent. Currently still have the stock Bridgestones on this AT, driving through snow and icing conditions the last few days without problems. Main gripe with the OEM tire is the front, seems a little weird at times.

My personal pick for road tire is the Bridgestone A41.
I've heard that the motoz tyres ate really good and give a great ride and long tyre life

Lucky you! If I could get that kind of life I would use them all the time Trailmax Missions are built like brick sh!thouses. I don't think there is any other tire as heavy or as solid.
 
Road a Metzeler Tourance (not the next) for about 15k km rear with an excelent grip, even on wet tarmac. Also Michelin Anakee III for about 20k km with excelent grip also.
 
Somebody already tested the Michelin Anakee Road?

Put Michelin Anakee Roads on in August. Smooth, Excellent on road handling, Slight whine which was surprising on a street tire. Haven't gone off road so can't tell you anything about that. So far I'm satisfied with them.
 
After 1500 km with the Anakee road's, I'm also very happy with the tires. Only tarmac.
