Yeah I was really looking at the Nomad as well, but decided I just wanted a big waterproof bucket to throw all my stuff into...i'm not the most organized person. Anyway, we're doing a week long on/off-road trip in GA in late March so I will see how this really works out then.

It's been interesting reading this thread. I'm really not a tank bag person - I commute, and put my work bag into my top box or a side pannier (if mounted). However, I have some longer trips that I'm planning, and I think a tank bag would be ideal for carrying my camera (a DSLR).

So, I thought that for the tank bag, I might be able to use a SW-Motech Evo City bag, but that seems to cause interference with the bars. It looks like it would hold something like this insert from Amazon, which would hold my DSLR and an alternate lens. This then lead me to a question - does this happen when the bars are adjusted, like what is suggested in this video:

Anyway, curious to everyone's experience.

Right. This is indeed hard :)

I bought the SW-Motech Daypack. This is the next to smalles available, as the "Micro" is smaller, but from what i could read on the measurements it was just as wide, but a bit lower, and shorter. The "Daypack" measures appx 17 cm at the front, and just shy of 21 cm at its widest. I attack a picture of how it looks when i enable the steering-lock, so you can see that even with THAT small a bag, it does hit the handlebars when fully over.

I would say a wider bag is a no-go, even if it flexes, as you risk the annoying "horn-beep" or whatever if you do that :p

So how ppl claim to be fitting the Evo City on this bike, i do not know, cos that is supposed to be around 6 cm wider (or about 1 inch wider to each side). But, i guess ill manage with that. Compared to my previous experiment with the Oxford tankbag, this atleast seems quite fine as it is no huge issue when the handlebars hit cos the bag flexes fine the little bit it has to. The Oxford bag also had a much harder "base", so it did not flex at all when the handlebars hit.

Well.. there you have it :)

PS. Others please post your "Handlebars with steering lock engaged and bag fitted" pictures here just for reference, on both AT and ATAS models :)
I feel your pain... I have the atas and tried to use a bag I had on a KLR. When I turned hard left it would hit the switches and shift gears or honk, etc.

Here is an experience: tank bags

The bag is the Kappa RA320IG.
Thanks, @DoubleThumper I appreciate that. That's an interesting bag, and despite having owned a Kappa box previously, I a) forget about them, and b) forget that they are the Honda to Givi's Acura. I'm torn, too, because I would like power in that bag. Most of the Givi ones make that possible due to the way they deliver the power, but the Motech's are so convenient as the power is delivered via the ring, therefore it's one mechanism to remove the bag (even if it is a rope...).

As with all things, more dithering for me...

Mosko Moto Hood 5 on my ATAS. Rode a few times and like it. One big pocket, waterproof and unobtrusive in my opinion. Single buckle operation with no external zippers. Undo two buckles up front to get to the gas...seems to work pretty well. Pleased with this bag. View attachment 59900 View attachment 59901
Nice one... Interested in where you tied the cable ties down on the other side with the Outback bars connecting to that area of the frame. Were you able to use the same area on the frame on the other side?

Was able to get one under the OM bracket and have not had any issues. Here is a pic of the left side looking forward.

Hey Pdwolfe… would you mind sending a picture of how you mounted this up on the left side of the bike with the OM crash bars? I have the same setup. Greatly appreciate it!

Has anyone tried the Givi XS320? I'm curious because it is "made" for the bike, but is also a tank ring, can have power, is expandable and is pretty affordable. I've seen zipper complaints, but that can be fixed by any good luggage repair outlet.

Anyway, just curious.
Yes, just installed the GiviXS320. Quick and easy install. Love the bag but have only had it a few days. Bars do hit the bag when full lock for fork lock but don't think it will be an issue for me. My first tank ring bag but have run tank bags for years. I love not having the straps so far! Don't know about the zipper issue? Had the Nelson Rigg Trails End on, priced right and it worked good, a little small and of course the straps. I have two of them if any body would like to buy one. Had them on my XR650Ls also, good for that.

giant loop is a good choice ,fits to the shape of the tank and large enough for all my bits , zips down one side to flip out the way for filling , off road it didnt get in my way
Does this bag need the quick ring thingy? When you say "giant loop", is that the size you are referring to or the mfgr?

BTW, I am still loving the Givi tank lock bag! Totaled my 18 adventure sports and moved it to my 18 AT standard.

Giant Loop is a brand. They make several models. I think they are decent bags but way over priced IMO. Nelson Rigg stuff is about the best bang for buck I think. Love a couple of their tail bags too.
